Moving out and living alone for the first time can be very exciting for students – it brings independence but also responsibility. For some new renters, this may mean it is the first time having to maintain a clean space on their own.
Places4Students.com has compiled some tips to help students make this necessary task easy and maintainable!
Planning:
-
Make a cleaning schedule and try to stick to it!
-
Clean up after yourself daily – this prevents messes from becoming unmanageable and a hassle to clean later
-
Share the work – when living with roommates, create a rotating schedule to keep everyone on task and accountable
-
Have basic cleaning products on hand and stored in the rooms most likely to be used in
-
Focus on disinfecting in the kitchen and bathroom, where more germs tend to reside
-
Purge your apartment once per semester to cut back on clutter
-
Work from top to bottom of furniture, etc. to prevent having to double clean areas of each room
-
Pick one day of the month for deep cleaning

Clean doorknobs, faucets, and other commonly touched areas with disinfectant wipes
