With everyone working together through this evolving situation, we are seeing rental payment statistics that are encouraging.

Below are a few statistics on the various trends being seen across North America.

Canada:

  • According to RBC, REITs showed 95% of their rent being collected in April
  • Landlords of privately owned properties showed 80% of their tenants paying rent in April

USA:

  • NMHC (National Multifamily Housing Council) tracks apartment statistics across the country and reported that 90.8% of apartment households made partial or full rental payments as of May 20th
  • Entrata reported that 81% of rent was collected from leases for student housing units in April
