Finding affordable housing that offers a great location with an array of amenities can be a challenging task for student tenants. To help these first-time apartment hunters out, we’ve compiled some of the best bargains in student housing for each province across Canada.

British Columbia: GEC Burnaby Heights, Global Education City

Rent: $790/per month (shared room)

Nearby School: Simon Fraser University & BCIT
 

Description: The Burnaby and Vancouver rental markets are quite hot and finding affordable accommodations close to campus with many amenities can be difficult. GEC Burnaby Heights offers students relatively affordable options for higher-end brand new student housing suites close to SFU, BCIT and a variety of shopping. Alberta: Holly Acres Apartments, CAPREIT

Description: The Calgary rental market has cooled off, and in turn, there are some outstanding bargains available to students in a market that was once fiercely competitive for tenants. Holly Acres Apartments is minutes away from the University of Calgary campus and plenty of shopping. Saskatchewan: Stonebridge Apartments, Boardwalk

Description: There isn’t a whole lot in the way of student housing in Saskatoon, but Boardwalk offers some outstanding apartments and suites that are competitively priced for students. If students don't mind having a few roommates, they can secure a room for roughly $400/month! Each suite comes equipped with in-unit laundry and a dishwasher. They offer both six and twelve-month lease terms and the apartment also has an on-site fitness facility.

Manitoba: Briarwood, Royal Realty

Description: Situated in proximity to both UPEI and the shopping district, The Queen Street Apartments are an extremely affordable and convenient living option for students. It’s practically impossible to find student accommodations in other provinces for less than $400 person!  While this may not necessarily be purpose-built student housing, it’s an outstanding option for UPEI students.
